Flu Season, Kids and Essential Oils
In the flu season be extra careful with essential oils when applying to children.
Here is a reminder that stronger isn't always better, and that you can start with less risky essential oils when treating colds
There are three essential oils safe to be used on young kids: Bulgarian Lavender Oil, Chamomile Oil, and Tea Tree Oil.
Use them in proper dilution of 0.5% to 1% blend for topical potent antimicrobial essential oils, such as Cinnamon bark, Lemongrass, Clove, Oregano. Thyme ct. thymol and blends high in any of those for children is not the best option, because:
- This may inhibit healthy immune system development
- Bacteria may develop resistance to them if overused
- They are a high risk of adverse reaction (irritation, sensitization)
