
Making your massage oils blends - helpful tips and recipes
Creating your own massage oil blend can be great complimentary to your massage therapy. Aromatherapy massage blends are very simple to create, even if you are not a Guru in essential oils.
Here are some tips and recipes on how to make your own massage oil blend.
First, you need to determine what your goal is for the massage oil:
Do you want it to be calming or invigorating, revitalizing or relaxing etc.
Once you have a clearer idea of what kind of massage oil you want to make,
you can pick up your essential oils.
How to Make Massage Oil Blend:
1 step is to choose a carrier oil, we recommend to use Grapeseed Oil or Jojoba Oil. These are our most preferred carrier oils for massage therapy.
We offer this carrier oils in convenience bottles, easy to add essential oils and turn into blends.
Grapeseed Oil
Grapeseed oil is the preferred carrier oil form many massage therapists because of its light, satin finish. Can be used for most massage therapy techniques. It has a smooth, silky texture without being greasy. Soothes away dryness and irritation and is quickly absorbed by the skin
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba Oil is an ideal carrier oil for massage oil recipes. Jojoba oil is actually a wax that is one of the closest things to the natural oils the body produces. Since it is similar to what the body produces, it is absorbed into the skin easily.
2 step is to add the essential oils. We recommend you to stay simple, especially if you are a beginner in essential oils.
Use a 2% dilution, this dilution level is perfect for daily use and is safe for skin.
If massage oil is to be used on a child (5-12 years old), person with sensitive skin, pregnant or breastfeeding mother, it is recommended to use a 1% dilution.
In 8 oz bottle, add 80 to 90 drops of essential oil.
For a 4 oz bottle, you will need 40 to 45 drops of essential oil total.
